ABOUT HELEN
The person behind Rowan's House - and why animals have always been at the centre of everything.
Some people fall into their calling by accident. I didn't. Animals have been my world for as long as I can remember. The deep interest in their wellbeing, the instinct to look beyond the surface of their behaviour and ask what they might be feeling - that has always been there.
What changed, over time, was my understanding of how much we can do to support them. Conventional care has its essential place - and I will always say so. But I became increasingly drawn to the question of what lies beneath: the emotional life of animals, the role of energy and environment in their health, and the quiet but powerful ways that plants, touch, and presence can help an animal feel safer in the world.
That curiosity became a commitment. I began training formally - and just kept going. Not because I needed more letters after my name, but because every course opened a new door, and behind each one was something else worth understanding.
Rowan's House grew from that - a business built around the belief that truly caring for an animal means caring for the whole of them. Their body, their nervous system, their emotional history, and the environment they live in. It's not a complicated idea. But in practice, it changes everything.

Outside of Rowan's House, I am - predictably - most at home in the company of animals. The ones who have taught me the most have often been the ones the world has given up on: the rescue dogs still learning that humans can be trusted, the elderly cats who just need someone to slow down with them. They are the reason I keep learning.
So, you would like to talk about your animals - what they need, what you've tried, or simply whether Rowan's House might be the right fit - or if you would like a treatment for yourself, I would genuinely love to hear from you.
Animals don't perform.
They show you exactly how they feel, if you know how to look. I've spent years learning to look - and to listen to what I see.
Behaviour is communication.
An anxious dog isn't being difficult. A rescue cat hiding under the bed isn't unfriendly. They are telling you something. It's my job to hear it.
Slow is often faster.
Rushing a frightened animal rarely works. Patience, consistency and genuine calm builds trust that lasts - and that trust is the foundation of everything else.
The whole animal matters.
Physical health, emotional wellbeing, energy, environment -these are not separate things. I try to hold all of them for every animal I work with.
