The services offered by Rowan’s House are designed for pets who benefit from remaining in their familiar home environment and from having a consistent, knowledgeable carer while their owners are away.

HOW IT WORKS:

(1)   The Initial Enquiry

Click on the Enquire about Care button at the bottom of this page, and fill in the enquiry form.   This will help us to establish whether Rowan’s House is likely to be a good fit for your household.

(2) The Meet & Greet

A 1 hour meet and greet allows you and your pets to meet me in advance and ensures everyone feels comfortable.    This services is free of charge within Essex, but there is a £10 charge for Kent, Norfolk, Suffolk, and Sussex to cover mileage costs (payable in advance).  If you feel that 1 hour is not going to be enough time, I can offer an extended meet and greet of 2 hours for £30.

During the meet and greet we will:

• Go through routines, feeding, and medication
• Discuss personalities and any concerns
• Confirm that the service is right for your pets and home

There is no obligation to book unless you feel completely happy to proceed.

(3) Booking & Payment

Once dates are confirmed, a 30% deposit is required to secure the booking dates, with the balance due 30 days before the start of the service.

(4)  Care During Your Stay

Care is provided on an in-home, overnight basis for dogs and multi-pet households, and where appropriate for cats.  Routines are followed closely, with careful observation and calm companionship throughout the stay.  I will send short updates every day (if required). 

(5)  Pricing Structure

Rowan’s House offers overnight, in-home pet sitting rather than hourly or drop-in services.   Pricing reflects experience, responsibility, and continuity of care.

Overnight In-Home Pet Sitting:

• £55 per 24-hour period
• £60 per 24-hour period from 6 April 2026

This includes:

• Overnight presence in your home
• Feeding and daily routines
• Medication administration where required
• On-lead walks for dogs as part of the sit
• Time, observation, and companionship

Additional Care Considerations

Every household is different.   While the standard overnight fee suits many bookings, some situations involve additional responsibility, time, or complexity.

An adjusted fee may apply for:

• Multiple pets, particularly where animals have differing routines or needs
• Advanced medical care, including complex medication schedules or hands-on support
• Elderly or mobility-impaired animals requiring additional assistance
• Behavioural or anxiety-related needs requiring close supervision
• Extended time commitments beyond typical daily routines

Any additional costs are always discussed openly and in advance, following the meet and greet, so there are no surprises.  

Travel & Mileage

Services within 5 miles of Rochford are included in the standard fee.

Beyond this area, a mileage charge of 45p per mile applies.    Any applicable toll or ULEZ charges will be added.    Where travel time exceeds one hour each way, a £12 per hour travel time fee applies.    All additional travel costs are discussed and agreed in advance.

Cancellations & Changes to Dates

Cancellation up to 30 days before service begins: non-refundable deposit paid, no further payment will be requested.

Cancellation 29 to 14 days  before service begins: refund minus 50% cancellation fee.

Cancellation 13–7 days before service begins: refund minus 75% cancellation fee.

Cancellation 7 days or fewer before service begins: no refund. 

Changes to dates are subject to an administration charge of 15% of the total booking value.
